UNIVERSITY PRONOUNCEMENT
Technical express their act felt joy to the official
pronouncement of Yaba College of technology to a university and also showed deep
concern to the incomplete application of the announcement as regards to the
cadre of students it applies to.
According to an anonymous source, the pronouncement of the
college does not apply to ND1 students but to the incoming fresh students.
The official announcement of the change of nomenclature and
full upgrading of the university brought joy and happiness to every students
most especially the year one students. Technical students expressed their
gratitude to god in a praise and worship session at their union centers both as
Christians and Muslims as the college was being pronounced as a university
during their own time. As soon as it was said that the pronouncement was not
applied to ND1 students they got disappointed.
“This isn’t fair!” one of the technical students disclosed. “I
was very happy on hearing the news and already started correcting the
impression of the college being referred to as a polytechnic but now a City University Yaba. However, on
getting to the school, I was informed by one of my lecturers that the
reinstatement applied to the incoming students”. After much ado, she finally
gave an encouragement and motivating speech clamoring that all students keep their
fingers crossed and pray to God who has started testimony to complete it.
